Camp High Rocks, a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has an assistant director opening for it's summer whitewater paddling program. Applicant must be experienced in teaching open boat, kayak and/or C-1. Rivers we paddle include the Chattooga, Nantahala, Tuckaseegee, French Broad, and Green.
Lead, train, and model a safe paddling program with a focus on skill building and enjoyment. Help direct staff of 6-7 canoeing counselors. Create lesson plans for the program. Maintain fleet of boats and gear. Instruct canoeing on our 11 acre lake and lead trips to local rivers.
Qualifications: At least 21 years of age, experience leading river trips, Wilderness First Responder, and ACA whitewater instructor certification (certification available prior to camp season). Prior leadership in a whitewater canoeing program is preferred. Clean driving record and experience with 15 passenger vans pulling trailers.
